Juan Martin Del Potro has been forced to pull out of the paris Masters because of a shoulder injury.
The former top ten player has been struggling with one in jury after another in the last eighteen months - and just as it looked like he was back to his best he has been hindered once again.
The former U.S. Open champion picked up the injury last week whilst playing at the Valencia Open - losing in the semi-final to Marcel Granollers.
De Potro was still in with a shout of qualifying for the ATP World Tour Finals at the O2 with a good performance in Paris - he is currently lying tenth.
But he has chose to pull out of the Paris tournament with the Davis Cup final just around the corner.
A statement from Del Potro, released by Paris organisers, read: "I felt pain in my right shoulder in Valencia and it hurt more and more as matches went on.
"I must now think about rest."
Del Potro would be expected to play two of the single rubbers as Argentina take on Spain away from home.
