Rafael Nadal Back In Action

Rafael Nadal is set to return to action next week at the China Open.

The world number two has been recovering from a stomach injury that hampered his U.S Open in summer season that has been plagued by injury.

Despite clearly suffering from the injury during his time at Flushing Meadows Nadal did make it to the semi-finals, reclaiming the world number two spot along the way.

But he pulled out of this week's Thailand Open to give himself chance to recover from the injury that he picked up during the Cincinnati Masters.

The Spaniard has been plagued with problems since the French Open back in June when he made a shock exit in the third round to Robin Soderling.

It soon became apparent that he was suffering from tendonitis and was forced to withdraw from Wimbledon, where he was defending champion.

Despite struggling with the stomach injury at the U.S Open he showed no signs of problems with the tendionitis.

But he has a heavy schedule between now and the end of the season as he intends to play at the Shanghai Masters 1000, the ATP World Tour Finals in London and the Davis Cup final.

He missed out on the Davis Cup semi-final against Israel a fortnight ago due to injury, he also missed last year's final because of a knee injury, Spain went on to lift the title.

This news comes just days after Roger Federer announced that he had pulled out of both the Japan Open and Shanghai Masters 1000.

The world number one, who lost his U.S Open crown to Juan Martin Del Potro last month, has qualified for the World Tour finals in London.
