Roger Federer book his place in the last eight as he cruised past Radek Stepanek in just seventy nine minutes.
The top seed is yet to be tested at the Paris Masters, a title he is yet to win, this year and looked in total control during his straight sets win.
The first set went with serve for the opening eight games and the pair were level at 4-4, Stepanek had even let a couple of break point chances pass him by.
But Federer soon put his foot on the gas as he took five games on the bounce to secure the opening set 6-4 and open up a 3-0 lead in the second.
While Stepanek did eventually get on the board in the second set it was too late as he never was able to trouble Federer on his serve.
After seventy nine minutes the former world number one wrapped up the match 6-4 6-3.
Speaking to the ATP after the match Federer said: "He was serving good, he was accurate, he was coming in a lot, which I kind of expected.
"I just kind of felt it was gonna be a tough match to play. Thank God I already had a couple of really good return games and a good 10, 15 minutes which I was able to make a difference on, and then I could cruise home.
"I survived a scare early on when I was down break point and he was playing well, so it was a good match from my side."
He will now face Jurgen Melzer in the quarter finals after he saw off David Ferrer 7-6 (8-6) 2-6 6-3. Despite the loss for Ferrer he booked his spot at the ATP World Tour Finals when Fernando Verdasco was unable to beat Gael Monfils.
