Samantha Stosur is the latest big name to be dumped out of the French Open as last year's runner up fell to Gisela Dulko.

The Australian had marched through the draw up until this point looking like she had the belief and the game to go one step further than twelve months ago.

And while Dulko was set to be the biggest test so far for the eighth seed Stosur was expected to come through the match... however Dulko had other ideas.

Errors littered the Stosur game in the opening set while her serve and returning game were also not up to their usual standard.

A double break saw Dulko race to a 4-0 lead before Stosur finally got on the board. At 5-2 she had the first chance to serve out the set - but Stosur got on of the break back to keep her chances in the opening set alive.

Dulko had set point chances in the next game before Stosur halted the danger but she didin't miss her third opportunity in the tenth as she finally closed out the set.

Into the second and Stosur looked to have settled and picked up her game as she raced through 1-6 to level the match at a set a piece.

But Dulko refused to give up and she broke in the sixth game of the decider to lead 4-2. The Australian never recovered and looked a shadow of the player we saw in the first two rounds as Dulko wrapped up a 6-4 1-6 6-3 victory.

But there was better news for Francesca Schiavone as she came through her match with Peng Shuai

Peng was forced to retire from the match in the second set after being having the doctor twice on court.

Schiavone was up 6-1 2-3 before Peng called it a day.

Jelena Jankovic has so far crept through the draw this week but she turned in another great performance to see off Bethanie Mattek-Sands 6-2 6-2.
