Viktor Troicki Wins First ATP Tour Title

Viktor Troicki won his first ATP as he saw off Marcos Baghdatis to win the Kremlin Cup.

It was the third final of Troicki but he was made to battle for victory as it was Baghdatis who got the first set under his belt.

The Cypriot needed just a single break in the opening set, which came in the sixth game, to take the opening set and the momentum looked to be in his favour.

But Troicki has other ideas as he battled back in the second, a single break once again being enough to get the match back on level terms.

And the Serb dominated the early stages of the deciding set as he broke early to open up a 4-1 lead. And that early break proved to be enough as Baghdatis couldn't get back on level terms.

Baghdatis did save the first the first match point but Troicki seal a 3-6 6-4 6-3 win with second and lift his fist title.

Speaking to the ATP after the match Troicki said: "It feels really great to win my first (ATP World Tour) title, there are no words to describe what is going through my mind.

"I would say it is the biggest day of my career. I had been waiting a long time for this. It is special it happened in Moscow as my father is Russian.

"Marcos played a great first set and a half, but then I was able to get into the match. I was nervous serving out for the title but I tried not to think too much about it.

"The mistakes I made against Rafa (Nadal in the Tokyo semi-finals), when I served for the match but lost, helped me."
