Murray makes China Open semis

Andy Murray moved into the semi-finals of the China Open after a straight-sets win over fellow Briton Kyle Edmund.

World number two Murray will now take on Spaniard David Ferrer in the last four in Beijing after getting the better of Edmund.

The first set was a tight affair as Murray eventually won 11-9 on a tie-break before the Scot eased to a 6-2 success in the second.

Edmund's impressive run to the last eight will move him into the top 50 in the world as his recent improvement continued in China, while Murray will hope to get the better of Ferrer to book a final place.

Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov is also through to the semis after he beat Rafa Nadal in straight sets 6-2 6-4 and he will next face the winner of the Milos Raonic versus Pablo Carreno Busta quarter-final.
