Serena Williams To Face Stosur In Final

Serena Williams’ return to form continued as she booked her spot place in the final of the Toronto Cup.

The American was unseeded going into the event but she breezed to a straight sets victory over fourth seed Victoria Azarenka.

Since her return at Wimbledon Williams has begun her fight back to the top echelons of the game as she lifted the title in Stanford and is on a ten match winning streak.

It hasn’t been an easy week for Williams with two three set battles but she looked to have found her form as she reached the semis.

The opening set went with serve for the first five games until Williams broke in the sixth to edge ahead 4-2.

But her lead didn’t last long as Azarenka hit back immediately to get the set back on serve. But she was unable to consolidate in the seventh as Williams broke for the second time - a break that sealed her the set 6-3.

Into the second and it as Williams who was on the offensive as she broke Azarenka on tow more occasions to seal a 6-3 6-3 win. 

Speaking to Reuters after the match Serena said: "I feel it's better today than it has been the past couple rounds but I feel it's coming along

"I still can do better but overall I am almost where I was but I want to exceed that level."

She will now face tenth seed Samantha Stosur as the Australian came through her semi final clash with Agnieszka Radwanska in three sets.

Stosur dominated the opening set as she broke Radwanska twice to take the set 6-2 and looked to be cruising.

But Radwanska hit back in a much more competitive second set, which the Pole edged 7-5.

But Stosur kept her cool and her powerful serve and groundstrokes once again dominated player as she dropped just two games in the decider as she wrapped up a 6-2 5-7 6-2 win to set up the clash with Williams.
