Yaya Toure is poised to return in Manchester City's EFL Cup tie away to Swansea on Wednesday after overcoming a three-day migraine.
The Ivorian midfielder is yet to feature in a Premier League game this term and has been ordered to improve his fitness levels by boss Pep Guardiola.
Toure was in contention to feature ahead of the 4-0 weekend drubbing of Bournemouth before his long history with severe headaches flared-up again.
The 33-year-old was ordered to miss three days of training but he is now feeling better and will be assessed in training over the next 48 hours.
City are the current holders of the League Cup and Guardiola wants to put out a strong side ahead of facing
The Swans again in the Premier League this weekend.
Germany winger Leroy Sane is also in line to make his first City start since his £38m summer arrival from Schalke.
Guardiola said: "Leroy was injured at the beginning - it's much better.
"Now he has had one or two weeks training with us and each day he is getting better.
"I know his quality. He needs minutes and in this next game he is going to get these minutes."
