Walters doubtful for Tigers clash

Jon Walters will miss Stoke's EFL Cup clash against Hull through injury as boss Mark Hughes plans to make changes.

Walters is a doubt with a foot injury he sustained in Sunday's defeat at Crystal Palace and Hughes is unlikely to take any risks with him against the Tigers.

Xherdan Shaqiri has missed the Potters' last five games but assistant manager Mark Bowen has revealed he is set to be part of the squad for the tie having been back in training after a calf problem.

It is expected there will be a number of changes made to the team, but it looks doubtful that goalkeeper Jakob Haugaard (ankle) will be coming in.

"I know it's a cliché but you only have the chance to win a few competitions and this is one of them," he said. "Wherever we've been Mark has always tried to go as strong as possible in the League Cup and I would imagine it will be the same again this time around.

"He'll sit down with the staff to discuss the team tomorrow but I wouldn't expect too many changes."
