Ward-Prowse noticing Puel differences

James Ward-Prowse says Southampton are getting used to new boss Claude Puel's "demanding" and "passionate" approach.

England Under-21 international Ward-Prowse has had a fine start to the season, making eight appearances so far under the former Lyon coach at St Mary's.

Puel has brought with him a new way of working and Ward-Prowse says the players are still adapting to the changes following Ronald Koeman's departure to Everton.

"He is very detailed and very passionate. He want us to do well and on the touchline he is very demanding. He has put in place the philosophy that he believes in," he told the club's website.

"I think it is a lot more possession based. We look to have more of the ball and the way we press is slightly different so it’s a case of working on that in training and putting that into practice in the matches.

"He is always stopping training and giving you advice. With the possession element too as a midfielder it does mean you will probably see more of the ball, which is good."

Puel's side have made a solid start to the campaign and sit in 10th place in the Premier League with nine points from seven games.
