Beck's intense recording

6 months ago 15th May 13:15

Beck says that recording his new album is the "most intense thing" he has ever done.

The singer has teamed up with producer Dangermouse - also a member of Gnarls Barkley - for his tenth album, and he says recording left him exhausted.

He told America's Rolling Stone magazine: "It was like trying to fit two years of song writing into two and a half months.

"I know I did at least 10 weeks with no days off, until four or five in the morning every night."

It was like trying to fit two years of song writing into two and a half months.

Dangermouse - real name Brian Burton - praised the singer's stamina, saying: "He's like a machine. I always got tired before he did. I stayed pretty late, but I'd usually hear the next day how late it went."

Originally, the album was going to be ten tracks long, each lasting less than two minutes.

However, the singer "got rid" of the short songs as the record evolved.
