In recent years, the cost of air travel has gona down and down and there is now nothing rare about London to the continent for under £20

But if you thought this was the cheapest it was goning to get, you'd be wrong. It may not be what the big airlines want to hear, buy the Sky's price war has already taken things to a fly for nothing level.

For example, Irish airline Ryanair is now offering a fly for nothing deal on it's Shannon to London flights among others. Taxes, and Airpots charges still apply, or course, but the actual flight itsself is free. And, of course, there are terms and conditions - for example, it doesn't apply during the school holidays, or aroung major sporting events.

Low turnaround times and relliable, hassle free new technology in aircraft have been major factors in making this possible and many airlines also make money on ancillary services such as car hire, Hotel bookings and video on demand

Of course, the airline could also think of a variety of things they could tap from a captive group of passengers at their disposal for a few hours.

Industry officials say the low-cost and no-cost airlines were catching passengers’ fancy as more people were giving preference to punctuality and courteous service offered by these airlines rather than multi-course meals offered in traditional airlines.
