A survey by one of the world's most exclusive travel magazines, last night named Glasgow the top Tourist destination in the UK, seing the city narrowly beat Edinburgh to the top sopt!

Readers of Conde Nast Traveller singled the Scottish city out for it's people and hosptality, as well as it's lively nightlife, and the former industrial Powerhouse leapt past the likes of London and Liverpool, leaving them in Third and Seventh place respectively.

According to the poll, London still has the best restaurants and hotel, and is loved for it's club scene, and Newcastle, in Fourth place overall, was tipped as the easiest to get around.

But Glasgow, evidently has been sucessful in it's bid to turn the city around in recent years, from industrial King of Scotlant, to the glitzy tourist attraction it's hailed as, today.

The City houses the council-owned Kelvingrove Museum, which is the top tourist attraction outside london, which has more that one million visitors per year, and the Burrell Collection, which contains some of the most important work of art, including parinting be Cezanne and Degas.

The results were among several announced by the magazine at a gala in London held last night.
