Britain gets it's own walk of fame

Joining the likes of Hollywood and Sydney, London is to get it's very own walk of fame. The Avenue will immortalise it's first 100 stars this year, including the likes of Lord (Lawrence) Olivier, Ricky Gervais, Charlie Chaplin, Billy Connoly and the Beetles, to name but a few.

The stars, who can be awarded the honour posthumously, have been chosen for their impact on the world of entertainment over the last 50 years.

For their name to be emblazoned on a silver star, the celeb must have been born in the UK or Commonwealth, Giving stars like Nicole Kidmann and Dame Edna Everage a place on the walkway

The Avenue of stars is to be set in the grounds of St Pauls - known as the actors church, and will be unveiled in a spectacular, live show on the 18th of September

Dame Edna, a recipient of one of the stard said "it was one of my favourite places in little old London" and that she hoped to be "laid between Michael Caine and Sean Connery".

  • Dame Shirley Bassey
  • Ant and Dec
  • Dame Edna Everage

  • Ricky Gervais
  • Sir Alfred Hitchcock
  • Sir Alec Guinness
  • Sir Rex Harrison
  • John Cleese
