Alton Towers Hotel

Alton Towers Hotel

The Alton Towers Hotel, on first impression was like walking into a hotel in Florida. The sculpted fountain at the front of a vintage car filled with characters and nick-nacks, is very striking as you approach.

The reception is decked out in suitcases making it look like a hotel from a bygone era. Directly in front of you, you can see a large balloon peeking from the ground floor which is attached to a boat where the hotel’s singers entertain the guests of a night time. The entrance is certainly very impressive and has a gift shop for any last minute presents or mementos from your stay.

At reception we were served by Jodie, who gave us our passes and any extra information that was need for the park. She was extremely helpful and professional and made our welcome informative and relaxing.

We were unable to check in until 3 (we arrived at 10) however if you don’t not want to leave your bag in the car, they have a room to hold them in until you can go to your room.

The room itself was large and decorated in what only can be described as an adventurer theme. There were compasses on the carpets, the walls were adorned with pictures of globes and sailing boats, as were the bed covers. A theme that not only worked well but one that was carried out throughout the whole establishment.

It was clean and the dresser was filled with goodies of crisps, chocolates, sparkling and still water.

The bathroom was equally as clean and had complimentary shampoo and conditioner with bubble bath. It also had a washing line that could be used to dry wet clothes on from the wetter rides or the water park.

With the room having two single beds, colouring books were provided had we brought some children along. Our room has a lovely view of the back of the hotel, which also had a fountain and we could see the seating areas that extended from the main bar.

As the monorail can get quite busy, there is a woodland walk to the park from the hotel which brings you out at Air, Nemesis, Ripsaw and Blade to get your ride experience started.

The hotel has two in house restaurants, The Secret Garden, hosts breakfast and an a la carte menu of an evening and The Emperor Grill which specialises in steaks and skewers.

The breakfast was plentiful and made from quality produce. There were counters for a full English breakfast as well as continental choices, so there was something for every palate.

In two days, I could not fault one member of staff; they are all clearly very well trained and attentive at every turn. The company has high standards for its staff which was very apparent.

I would urge anyone to stay the hotel, given how tiring a day at the park can be, to be able to catch the monorail or walk back 1km to the hotel rather than having to think about a long drive home is pure bliss.
