Holiday Homes Increasingly Popular

As summer continues to look promising and we enjoy soaking up the rays, the urge to hop onto the next plane to paradise for more sun and relaxation is greater than ever, with holiday homes proving popular with Brits this summer.

An increasing number of Brits are choosing holiday homes over hotels for their summer vacation this year, a new survey has revealed.

The study, carried out by www.schofields.ltd.uk, have revealed that 65% of holiday home owners have experienced ‘back-to-back’ bookings for this summer, leading some to increase prices and turning away potential guests, in order to cope with the demand over the holiday period.

Holiday homeowners will be smiling from ear to ear as 82% have seen an increase from last summer bookings. Requests are rolling in fast as 65% reveal that they had already had ‘back-to-back’ bookings with a further 12% stating that they were almost full, with very limited availability left.

For some, it is proving a challenge to maintain customer demand with 34% agreeing that it is difficult to keep up with the demand for a holiday home. Many admit to increasing the prices by an average of £76 per week compared to the fees charged during summer last year, while 71% stated they had to turn potential guests away.

46% said they had been taking bookings for 2015 as a guarantee that there will be at least availability for disappointed holidaymakers next year.

Phil Schofield of Schofields Holiday Home Insurance said:

“Although we may complain that we don’t get a moment’s rest, an upturn in business is a very positive sign. The fact that many holiday home owners have seen such a substantial rise in demand that they have been turning business away is something to celebrate. The ability to charge higher fees in order to control the bookings is a further sign that holiday homes are a brilliant investment.”

He continued:

“The summer is undoubtedly the busiest time for the holiday industry and, as the weather cools down into autumn, perhaps holiday home owners will be looking forward to taking a break after all their hard work – and they will be at leisure to do so, in their own properties, so they can remind themselves what all the fuss is about!”
