Hilton London Canary Wharf

Hilton London Canary Wharf

In London Hilton Canary Wharf we were able to leave our bags in storage until our room was ready, as in the other Hiltons we stayed in. When are returned to check in we were greeted by Sven who retrieved our bags and informed us of breakfast times and where our evening meal would be.

The room was large with a spectacular view of the financial buildings at Canary Wharf. We were given a muffin and shot on arrival, as well as two free bottles of water, left for us on the dressing table.

The room boasted a large screen TV, dressing table, seating area, superking bed, bath robes and slippers were also provided in the wardrobe.

The bathroom was large with a separate bath and shower and plentiful towels with Peter Thomas Roth shampoo, conditioner, body wash and massage bar.

We forgot when we were downstairs to order a newspaper so we called down and the staff were more than happy to arrange one for the morning with little notice. My partner also forgot his shaving equipment and a member of staff brought two boxes containing razors within 10 minutes of him calling down to ask.

The executive lounge was available to us as we were staying on the 14th floor. This was open from 7am-11am of breakfast, 2.30pm-5pm for mid-afternoon snacks and drinks and 6pm-9pm for evening snacks and drinks.

In the morning the lounge provided pastries, croissants, bread rolls, muffins, pain o’chocolate, coffee, fresh juice, jams, marmalades, cold meats, cereals and toast. We were bale to dine in there had we not wanted to eat in the Cinammon Restaurant.

During the mid-afternoon, there were biscuits, savoury snacks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and newspapers to cater for English and non-English guests. There was also free Wi-Fi in the lounge to catch up on work or to browse the net.

In the evening hot foods were provided, such as chicken wings, samosas, sausages in mushroom sauce, cookies, savoury snacks, olives and canapés. In terms of drinks there was selection of wines, still and sparkling water, Becks, Speckled Hen, Budweiser, Feel Good blackcurrant and orange juice, diet coke and coke, lemonade, soda water. The selection catered for all ages and palates.

Whatever the time we visited the lounge there was always lots of choice and staff on hand to help with anything else that we needed.

For the evening meal in the Cinnamon Restaurant we were seated in the window overlooking the train line. We were supposed to be booked in for 7.30pm, however moved this back to nine with little notice and the staff were very accommodating with regards to the change. We began with duck spring rolls and pork dumplings which were served to us within very little time at all. Each presented on a long rectangular plate with dipping sauce were delicious!

For our main course we had beef curry, with a rice, naan and poppadums and chicken, rice, with grilled tomatoes and mushrooms. The waiter was extremely attentive and poured our wine and water for us as well a regularly checking if there was anything else that we needed.

We decided not to get a desert at the table, however ordered room service later that night which came within 20 minutes of placing the call.

The breakfast in the Cinnamon Restaurant was buffet style offering both English breakfast and continental options with tea and coffee provided by the waiters and waitresses.

The hotel is a 5 minutes’ walk from the Canary Wharf tube station and although, is not in the tourist area of the city, offers great views of the financial district and the river overlooking the Millennium Dome. The easy access, high standards and spectacular views are all reasons to stay at this hotel and the executive lounge is also a must!

Thanks to Rosella, Sven and the rest of the staff at the London Hilton Canary Wharf for a lovely stay!
