Worsley Hall Country Club just off the M60 within minutes of Manchester City centre and the famous Trafford Shopping Centre. But strolling in the Hotel grounds over looking the 18-hole golf course a must for the golfer, you would not have a clue how close to the city you where as the location is disguised from the road hidden within the 200 acres of gardens and woodland with not a hint of traffic noise to disturb the peace.

We were welcomed by the Manager Derek Harvey at the reception desk and after booking in we were shown to our room.

We stayed in a beautiful suite at the rear with views of the old coach house and grounds. If the weather had been a little more accommodating just below us was a stunning patio where you could sit out with a drink while admiring the view over the trees and lawns and let the world drift by - sadly not today as it was much too cold.

The suite was huge, with an extra large extremely comfortable bed, tea and coffee making facilities, a dressing table and wardrobe all conveniently in a separate open plan room. The bathroom was large, with thick fluffy white towels and complimentary toiletries to indulge yourself with. The view over the gardens lures you into thinking you are in the middle of nowhere and is certainly the room's best asset. An extra special touch was the welcome bottle of champagne to enjoy after our journey.

We decided to spend some time in the hotels pool and spa to work up an appetite for our evening meal. A work out in the gym followed by a few lengths of the swimming pool and finished off by a slow relaxing steam in the steam room to remove the working weeks aches and pains - fabulous.

Later in the lounge area before our evening meal, a comfortable place that is just like sitting in your own living room! With the bar right next door, you can have a coffee or a tipple of your choice while you wait to be seated.

For our evening meal we dined in the hotels vibrant country club restaurant The Tempo. The menu draws inspiration from a wide array of international cuisines, while the bar offers a comprehensive selection of specialty cocktails

The dining room looks out onto the landscaped gardens, so a beautiful backdrop while you enjoy your food. The head chef has a real talent that we both appreciated and enjoyed immensely.

Breakfast was buffet style with juices, pastries, and fresh forest fruits and cereals, and waitress service for the cooked meal. The English breakfasts were well cooked and presented.

The staff were happy to provide for those requiring special diet food such as gluten free that had to be taken into account with some of the ingredients on offer.

The staff were friendly and we had a laugh or two with one member in particular (who I won't embarrass), who made our dining experience all the more enjoyable.

The hotel is a quiet little haven just outside of Manchester's hustle and bustle. We only found out about it recently when we were looking for hotels within easy reach of the city as I am a United fan and wanted to visit the football museums as well as enjoying some hassle free shopping in some of the countries top stores.

I would suggest that anyone wishing to visit the centre of the North West you will not find a better place to base yourself.

A quality top class hotel that still retains a homely and welcoming feel all managed by great and helpful staff.
