best thing about home- bed!

An online travel agency today revealed that most of Brits feel the holiday blues after coming home from their summer vacations. It found that it can take up to a month to get over the feelings of low moods felt from being back to normality.

The website sunshine took 1,254 adults each of whom had been on holiday in the last 12 months.

They were asked “After your last holiday abroad, did you experience post-holiday blues?” to which 82% said ‘yes’. They were asked why they thought this was and 45%, said it was the absence of something to look forward to.

23% believed a holiday highlighted that their life back home was not reaching its potential and 21% said it was due to the bad weather over here and the good weather they left behind.

78% of people agree that their holiday blues had lasted for a staggering month after their return.

When asked, “Are you usually glad to be home after a holiday abroad?” more than two thirds, 68%, of the respondents said ‘no’. Those who said yes were asked what it was that made them glad to be back and 46% were unanimous in saying that their bed was the best thing about home life.

Chris Clarkson, co-founder of sunshine.co.uk, said the following:

“Post-holiday blues are a very real phenomenon. When you’ve been looking forward to relaxing on a beach in the glorious sunshine for some time and before you know it the whole thing is over and you’re on the M6 in the pouring rain heading home, flip flops still on, it can be a horrible feeling.

“Our best advice would be to book another holiday as soon as you can to have something else to look forward to!”
