The Macdonald Manchester Hotel and Spa has a lift that is specifically for the Spa to give you privacy from the other guests if you are going back to your room after having a treatment.

Macdoanld Manchester Spa

This is unique to any hotel I have stayed in with a spa added onto the establishment and worked well as a feature of the building.

We had a friendly greeting and were showed to a seating area where we waited for the treatment, which looked out onto the city. It was decorated in a dark wood with candles running along the coridoors for an instant feel of calm and quiet. Once it was cleared, the tranquillity room was offered to us as a place to relax before our treatment.

This comfortably warm room was dark, except for mild multi-coloured lights that slowly alternated in the ceiling and a small spotlight by each of the beds. Music was being played in the background, including sounds of the sea so when you closed your eyes you felt as if you were on the beach! There were several beds all dressed with sheets, if you wanted to snuggle up and tea and coffee were available.

The Indian Head massage was a surprise as it included a back and neck massage too, which I was not expecting. The sensual peppermint oils used were relaxing and made the therapist’s movements more fluid, for an all-round more comfortable massage.

I was very impressed by the spa and at £46.00 thought that the prices were reasonable when compared to other establishments offering the same treatment.

Although we didn’t take advantage of them the spa also offers a choice of thermal suites with rock saunas, infra-red saunas, salt infusion and salt mist therapies, cold rooms, aroma steam rooms and invigorating showers.

Feel good massages, Decleor facials and Jessica Manicures are also available.
