Gortnarup House, Clonbur, County Galway, IrelandHistoric 18th century stone cut Irish farmhouse which has been lovingly restored by its Londoner owners, who fell in love with the beauty of the Connemara area. They spent several years renovating the old house using furnishings and fittings from France, car boot sales, Irish antiques and various donations from locals and the result is cosy and stylish. Sleeps up to 10 (five bedrooms), Euros 740 per week over NYE 2012.

Carn Du, Mousehole, CornwallLarge house on the Cornish coast with panoramic sea views. Inside there’s a large family kitchen with an Aga which opens into a spacious dining room with piano, sitting room with a log fire and a sun room. As part of the property there’s also a self-contained attached annexe with a separate entrance. A morning bed making and tidy-up service is provided by Lorraine the housekeeper who can also help book local events and activities.

The owners can also arrange to organise for food to be ordered prior to arrival, or have daily meals and dinner parties catered by local chefs. It’s just a three minute walk to the local village, Mousehole, and there are good restaurants nearby too.  Sleeps up to 12 (six bedrooms), £4,800 per week over NYE 2012.

Two The Crescent, Cromer, NorfolkThis Grade II listed Georgian house has large rooms, views of the sea front and is just a couple of minutes from the town centre. It comes well equipped with HD TV, Blu-ray player, iPod compatible CD hi-fi and there’s a wood burner to keep things cosy. Cromer is a traditional seaside resort with a cliff-top setting and wide sandy beaches running down to the sea. It is famous for its fishing boats that still work off the shore and offer freshly caught seafood. Sleeps up to 11 (six bedrooms), £1,699 per week over NYE 2012.
