Heli Skiing

Heli Skiing

With the promise of pristine powder and untouched terrain - not to mention the thrill of a private chopper ride - heli-skiing remains at the top of many a ski enthusiast's bucket list. Traditionally the reserve of the fortunate few and centered around resorts in North America, central Europe and Japan, top-tier heli-skiing has found a hot new hub in Kazbegi, Georgia. Located in the heart of the Caucasus Mountains, Design Hotels™ member Rooms Hotel Kazbegi has created a bespoke package together with Gudauri-Heliskiing, offering skiers and boarders the ultimate adrenaline rush.

Ready to Heli

Situated at the southern slopes of the Caucasus Mountains (with a climate comparable to the Alps), Gudauri boasts sublime ski conditions. Abundant powder, jaw-dropping views, and wide open slopes entirely above tree line secure the region's reputation as a truly unique skiing experience. The snow conditions are at peak from January - March, and it is only then that Gudauri-Heliskiing invites guests to join exclusive heli-ski tours led by their team of experienced Austrian pilots and mountain guides. With helicopters granted almost unrestricted access to the mountain range, skiers can test their mettle on some of the best runs in Europe - at altitudes between 1,500 and 4,200 meters above sea level.

Before facing a pulse-quickening vertical descent of 20,000 meters, every skier is in need of a good night's sleep and a stiff drink, and Rooms Hotel Kazbegi is perfectly equipped to offer the best of both. Located at the foot of the dramatic Mount Kazbek, the stylish mountain retreat was the first of its kind in Georgia, pairing an avant-garde aesthetic with spectacular surroundings. The hotel's guest areas reflect Georgia's legendary warmth and hospitality; a restaurant serving traditional Georgian fare sits alongside a cozy bar with its own fireplace and cigar menu. A sweeping sun terrace provides a place to relax and soak in the rugged, snow-capped landscape. Other facilities comprise a spacious lobby lounge, library, casino and indoor swimming pool, the perfect après-ski spot. Each of the 156 guestrooms are designed with a neutral color palette and natural materials, providing a tranquil space in which to rest and rejuvenate off-piste.

Rooms Hotel Kazbegi and Gudauri-Heliskiing offer exclusive seven-night heli-ski packages from Jan. 23 - Mar. 19, 2016. Hosting a maximum of 16 people per tour, Gudauri-Heliskiing offers six days of unlimited heli-skiing with experienced mountain guides, and specialized deep powder ski equipment is supplied upon request. The package includes one night at Rooms Hotel Tbilisi, group transfer, and six nights' accommodation at Rooms Hotel Kazbegi, including breakfast and dinner at the hotel's restaurant. Rates start from 6,990 EUR per person, based on two sharing.

About The Hotel

Designed by Tbilisi-based design studio Adjara Arch Group, the remote 156-room retreat is the very first of its kind in Georgia. The sleek hotel comprises a geometric structure with balconies and sun terrace fashioned from metal, glass and locally sourced wood. Wood-clad walls, floors and ceilings echo the surrounding rural landscape, which is brought into the interiors via floor-to-ceiling windows, while leather furnishings and working fireplaces bring a warmth and softness to the aesthetics. The cozy restaurant and bar serve traditional Georgian cuisine and local, qvervi wine, while references to the country's cultural heritage can be found in the original film posters and literary tomes displayed in the lobby. Alongside heli-skiing, the hotel is the ideal base for a whole host of winter sports, with world-class hiking and climbing on the doorstep and regular transfers to Gudauri for skiing and snowboarding.
