Alan Carr Named TV Personality Of The Year

Alan Carr was named TV Personality of the Year at the Television and Radio Industries Club (TRIC) awards.

The 'Sunday Night Project' host scooped the prestigious honour at the ceremony in London's Grosvenor House, accepting the gong in front of stars including Patsy Kensit, Daniella Westbrook and Gemma Arterton.

'EastEnders' beat its soap rivals to take the Soap of the Year award, but missed out on seeing any of their cast honoured.

Katherine Kelly, who plays barmaid Becky Granger in 'Coronation Street' was named Best Soap Personality.

The BBC's 'Strictly Come Dancing' again triumphed over its ITV rival 'The X Factor' by taking the Best Reality Programme award.

The dance contest, which is presented by Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly previously beat the talent search show at the National Television Awards in October.

Johnny Vaughan was crowned Best Digital Radio Personality, while his Capital Breakfast Show was also honoured Best Digital Radio Programme.

Gary Lineker was named Best Sports Presenter for his anchorage of 'Match of the Day', while veteran broadcaster Sir Trevor McDonald was awarded Best Newscaster/ Reporter.

Satirical news quiz 'Have I Got News For You', which features guest presenters and teams captained by Paul Merton and Ian Hislop, was given the TRIC Special Award.
