Beverley Callard wants EastEnders role

'Coronation Street' actress Beverley Callard has joked she would like to join the cast of rival soap 'EastEnders' to play Kat Moon's mum.

The 'Coronation Street' actress - who plays Liz McDonald in the ITV1 soap - revealed when she leaves the cobbles at the start of 2011 she wouldn't turn down a part on the London-based show playing feisty Kat Moon's mum.

When asked whether she would accept a job on her rival soap, she explained: "I could not say no. I'd give it a go - just for a while. I'd love to go back and play Kat's mum."

Beverley took a trip to the 'EastEnders' set with some of her fellow 'Corrie' cast members to film a one-off special for Children in Need earlier in the year, but she admitted actress Jessie Wallace - who plays Kat in the BBC One soap - kept giving her the giggles.

She added to the Daily Mirror newspaper: "I loved working with Jessie Wallace, I adore her. It was hard not to get the giggles. We were shooting a piece of history. I felt honoured."
