Emmerdale's Chelsea Halfpenny had to concentrate on sounding like "an animal" while pretending to give birth.
The 20-year-old actress - whose 16-year-old alter-ego Amy Wyatt gave birth to Cain Dingle's (Jeff Hordley) baby on last night's (01.12.11) episode - admitted while ITV1 producers made an effort to make sure the dramatic scenes weren't "too graphic", she wanted to make it as realistic as possible.
I hope people didn't find they couldn't watch it. It was on at 7pm so we made an effort not to make it that graphic.
She told BANG Showbiz: "I was more interested in the noises that I would be making than anything. The screaming, the hollers. If I was ignorant towards it, I would have just screamed my head off but the midwife was telling me it's literally from the bottom of your stomach.
"It's a grunt, like an animal. We had a midwife on set the whole time and my aim was to make it as realistic as possible.

Chelsea is now set to play a major part in Emmerdale's Judgement Day storyline - which sees six characters suspected of attempting to kill bad boy Cain after brutally bludgeoning him over the head - and she was "overwhelmed" to be asked to be part of such a big plot after just a year on the ITV1 soap.
She added: "I've been in the show just over a year and I was overwhelmed when I heard they wanted me to do the storyline. I was more excited than anything.
"It did get physical but every time Jeff did anything violent in the scenes, straight away he'd be like, 'Oh God, are you OK?' If anything, I would have probably rather it hurt a bit more!"
Judgement Day kicks off next Thursday (08.12.11) at 7pm, followed by a second episode at 8pm.
