Cheryl Cole has reportedly been begging Simon Cowell to let her mentor the girls on the 'X Factor' so she can take control of Cher Lloyd.
Cheryl Cole is desperate to mentor Cher Lloyd on the 'X Factor'.
The Girls Aloud singer - who earned her place in the group on TV talent show 'Popstars: The Rivals' - has reportedly been begging Simon Cowell to let her take control of Cher and the girls this year because she believes she is the judge most suited to helping the pop hopeful.
Cher reportedly decided to speak to Simon after finding out that Cher, 17, struggled during her time at boot camp.
Auditions guest judge Natalie Imbruglia said: "Cheryl has an affinity with her."
Cher has previously admitted Cheryl is an inspiration to her, saying; "I don't copy her but I do take a few tips from her. She is pretty amazing."
Viewers will have to wait until next month to find out if Cheryl gets her wish and is allowed to mentor the girls.
Meanwhile, Cher has revealed she hopes to sing a Dolly Parton song if she progresses on the pop star search show.
Although Cher impressed the judges with her rendition of rapper Soulja Boy's 'Turn My Swag On', she is keen to show she can be a diverse artist by belting out one of Dolly's country hits.
She said: "I used to sing country because that's what my family enjoyed. Over the years I've got with the times. I'll try anything though - this is a competition and you have to try something different to get somewhere."
