The former 'Coronation Street' star - who was in the bottom two of the ITV show alongside 'Hollyoaks' actor Kieron Richardson after receiving the fewest public votes - stumbled with his bowler hat at the end of his skate-off routine, costing him a place in the semi-finals.

The 23-year-old actor was so disorientated following his slip-up, he still hadn't finished his routine with his professional dance partner Frankie Poultney when the music had stopped.

He said: "It let us down a little bit, but what will be will be. I've had an amazing time. Thanks very much for everyone that voted for me. I've had an amazing time. Frankie has been absolutely amazing to me."

Judge Karen Barber voted to save Danny, but the other four panelists - Robin Cousins, Nicky Slater, Jason Gardiner and Emma Bunton - opted to keep in Kieron, 23, who successfully skated to a Freddie Mercury track using his required element, a microphone stand prop.

Judge Emma Bunton said: "I'm gutted for you Danny but you did mess up."

The other celebrities through to the semi-finals next Sunday (21.03.10) are Daniella Westbrook, Hayley Tamaddon, and Gary Lucy.
