David Tennant kissed John Barrowman as he spoke about his 'Doctor Who' departure.
The British actor held his openly-gay co-star's cheeks and planted a kiss on his lips at a fans' convention in California before speaking to crowds about his "emotional" final scenes.
'Torchwood' star John - who plays time traveller Captain Jack in the 'Doctor Who' spin-off - looked shocked by his friend's sudden display of affection.
Well, nothing's planned, no one knows what might happen. But, well, 2013 is the 50th anniversary, isn't it?
After the kiss, David said: "The final stories are very emotional. The story takes you to places that the Doctor can't go on a regular basis.
"That is, from an actor's point of view, hugely challenging and liberating and exciting. It's thrilling that we get to make people cry."
Fans watched as a preview clip from the finale was shown on a big screen.
The 38-year-old actor also revealed his character would meet his end at the hands of his arch enemy The Master - played by John Simm.
Scriptwriter Russell T Davies - who is also leaving the show - said fans can also expect the Doctor's sidekicks Rose Tyler (Billie Piper), Martha Jones (Freema Agyeman) and Donna Noble (Catherine Tate) to disappear from screens too.
Meanwhile, David - who will be replaced by Matt Smith at the end of the year - says he would never rule out returning to the cult BBC One show for a 50th anniversary episode.
He said: "Well, nothing's planned, no one knows what might happen. But, well, 2013 is the 50th anniversary, isn't it?"
