Hugh Laurie is "upset" that 'House' storylines have been leaked.

The British actor - who plays maverick physician Dr. Gregory House in the US TV show - is unhappy so many plots have been revealed as the culprit must be someone he works with closely.

He said: "It's a bit upsetting that someone in our midst who we think of as a friend and ally is selling us out."

They can place him in a role like that without being worried about what an audience would think because most people weren't aware of who he was

It was recently leaked that Jennifer Morrison, who has starred in the medical drama since it first hit screens in 2004, is to leave.

Hugh added: "Jennifer made the point that this show represents about a fifth of her life. For me it's more like 1/200th - but it's still emotional."

Hugh's character has a massive following in America, with the actor seen as a sex symbol among fans.

Co-star Jesse Spencer, who plays Dr. Robert Chase, insists he can see why Hugh is so popular.

He said: "It's so foreign for the English - they're like, 'Hugh Laurie what? He's a heartthrob? How's that even possible?'

"That's the advantage of places like the States that did not have a preconception of who he was. They can place him in a role like that without being worried about what an audience would think because most people weren't aware of who he was."
