Jade Goody's sons are facing fresh heartbreak after their great-grandfather committed suicide.
Bobby and Freddy and their father Jeff Brazier were reportedly "very close" to 81-year-old Jack Smith, who was Brazier's grandfather.
Jack reportedly killed himself because he couldn't face battling cancer. He was found dead in his garden with a gun next to his body. A suicide note was left on a table in the kitchen of his home in Hornchurch, Essex.
Jeff's mother Janette discovered the grisly scene when she dropped in to check on Jack, a retired fire fighter who had recently been diagnosed with cancer of the mouth and throat.
The incident happened shortly after Jeff, 29 took Bobby and Freddy on a four week holiday to Australia to keep them from the glare surrounding the death of their mother last month from cancer, but Janette did not tell Jeff of the suicide until yesterday (21.04.09).
Neighbour Selby Tweedie, 72 - who is Jeff's god father - said the suicide note read: "I can't take these tumours any more. Don't tell Jeff, let him continue the holiday in Australia. I'm sorry."
I can't take these tumours any more. Don't tell Jeff, let him continue the holiday in Australia. I'm sorry.
Selby added: "Jeff was very close to his grandad. Bobby and Freddy were often at Jack's house. They liked playing in the garden and Jack used to buy lots of things for the boys.
"It's going to come as a terrible shock for Jeff. He took the kids away so they wouldn't get upset with Jade's funeral, and now they will find out their great-grandad has died. Those poor kids will be heartbroken."
Jeff's spokeswoman said the family would break the news to Bobby, five and Freddy, four, after giving them more time to come to terms with the death of their mother last month.
The spokeswoman added: "They are very young and have had more than enough pain in the past few weeks."
Meanwhile, Jade's mother Jackiey Budden has revealed the reality TV star begged her to smother her with a pillow as she lay dying of cancer.
Jackiey, 50, said: "She wanted me to put a pillow over her head. I really didn't want to see her go that way."
"We watched her slowly disintegrate. It was more heartbreaking than just seeing someone die. She wasn't in any pain, but it's horrible for the people around it.
"If she was on a machine we'd have to turn it off, but when you've got cancer you don't have a machine."
