The comic actor - who co-wrote the award winning BBC Three TV series 'Gavin and Stacey' with the Welsh actress - is desperate for them to sit down again and work on a new TV or film script because he's at his happiest when they're working together.
He said: "She sent me a really nice text message yesterday, it just said, 'I really miss you,' and I feel exactly the same. I do really, really miss her when we're not together. We're both excited about one day getting back in a room and seeing what we can come up with. It can't happen soon enough for me. We've got this idea for a film that we'd like to write, so it'll be really nice just to get with her, get the snacks going, and get writing again.
"My partnership with Ruth means so much to me. I'm honestly at my happiest when I'm in a room with her."

Despite seeing enormous success with their comedy series, the pair have a very unusual writing style and lock themselves in "posh hotels" until they have perfected their scripts.
James explained to ShortList magazine: "Because Ruth lives in Cardiff and I'm in London we write in hotels. We lock ourselves in a posh hotel room and stay there doing nothing but writing until we have a script. We wrote the 'Gavin and Stacey Christmas Special' in four days in a hotel room which we didn't leave night or day except to go and buy new snacks from this food store around the corner."
