The funnyman will join an all-star cast on Friday (19.03.10) when he attempts to break all previous money-making records for this year's charity event and has recorded a number of sketches ahead of the programme - including one with the hunky Formula 1 driver.

A source said: "We've heard James' clips this year are his funniest yet. His comedy series with co-star Mat Horne may not have been a success, but everyone involved with this has been great."

In a clip from his encounter with Button, the Formula 1 driver can be seen getting out of his car and celebrating a victory with his team and James' 'Gavin and Stacey' character Smithy - who is also dressed in racing clothes - while the track 'You're the Best Around' by Joe Esposito, from the film 'Karate Kid' is played.

We've heard James' clips this year are his funniest yet. His comedy series with co-star Mat Horne may not have been a success, but everyone involved with this has been great.

Another of his comedic scenes will see Smithy giving pep talks to sport stars including England footballers Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand and tennis ace Tim Henman.

Other shows which will air on Friday include a special episode of 'Ashes to Ashes' featuring sports legends from the 80s, 'A Question of Sport Relief' and a special edition of 'Masterchef'.

On Sunday (21.03.10) there will also be the Sport Relief Mile, a nationwide fundraising event which will see participants run one, three or six miles in a bid to help the fund reach its £40 million target.
