Jenni Falconer has become a mother for the first time after giving birth to a baby girl, who she has named Ella Rose.

The TV presenter gave birth to a healthy baby girl at just after midnight, and she has named the 7lb 2oz tot Ella Rose.

Writing on her twitter page, Jenni - who is married to James Midgley - said: "The wait was worth it....our beautiful baby girl, Ella Rose Midgley, arrived last night at 12.37 weighing 7lb 2oz.

"We are totally smitten!"

The news was also revealed on 'This Morning' by hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, who Jenni filled in for during her own maternity leave.

Phillip said: "We have some breaking news for you! Congratulations to Jenni Falconer - well done Jenni and James who welcomed Ella Rose into the world."

Holly added: "Congratulations, how exciting! Well done, that's wonderful news."

Before the birth, Jenni, 35, had taken to her twitter account to say she couldn't wait to meet her unborn baby.

She said: "I'm now at the end of my pregnancy tether. The baby is like its mother and running late. It's obviously planning a 'meet the world' outfit. (sic)"
