Celebrity Scone Revolt

The 'I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!' contestants threatened mutiny yesterday (02.12.09).

The five remaining contestants on the ITV reality show were moved to protest by throwing down their microphones and confronting producers over three scones with jam and cream.

The team said they were promised cream tea with scones and jam for passing their Celebrity Chest challenge, but were incensed by the fact there was no tea and not a whole scone each.

Chef Gino D'Acampo stormed into the Bush Telegraph to issue his threats.

He said: "We won a cream tea, this is my ultimatum: I want five scones with jam and cream and I want tea. If I don't get that I will convince everybody to take the mic off and don't come here until the end of the day, and you know I have the power to do that.

"I will give you ten minutes to get five scones and five teas down here."

He then went back to the camp and explained the situation to the others. To hammer home the demands battleaxe Kim Woodburn - who had earlier won the challenge to find four golden eggs hidden in a cage alongside Jimmy White - went and reiterated them to the Bush Telegraph.

She said: "You don't go to any restaurant over the whole wide world and they say here's five for cream tea, share three scones. We want five big scones, plenty of cream and plenty of jam with lots of tea, milk and sugar so we can have a second cup if we want."

The show's producers eventually decided that, as the team has consistently done so badly at the Celebrity Chest challenges, that they could have a scone each, with cream and tea.
