Bosses on the US musical comedy show are thrilled to working with the 'Poker Face' singer - who is known for her eccentric dress sense and extravagant stage shows - on a forthcoming episode which will be dedicated to "theatricality".

Writer-and-producer Ryan Murphy said: "We're doing an episode that's a tribute to theatricality. We reached out to Lady Gaga and she said, 'Yes, I'd love to be a part of it.' So we will be doing Lady Gaga this season."

Lady Gaga is not the only star who has agreed to let the show cover her songs.

We're doing an episode that's a tribute to theatricality. We reached out to Lady Gaga and she said, 'Yes, I'd love to be a part of it.' So we will be doing Lady Gaga this season.

Madonna has also worked closely with Ryan for a forthcoming episode which will pay tribute to her pop stardom and feature ten of her famous tracks.

Ryan explained to E! Online: "I've worked with Madonna before. I admire her greatly and I'm friends with her a little bit socially. I called her up and wrote her a letter and said we want to write up a tribute to you and she said yes and she cooperated in every way possible. We do 10 songs altogether. Jane is going to do 'Vogue.' "

The new episode will be the second aired from the new series.

Actress Jane Lynch - who portrays aggressive cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester - started preparing for the scene months ago.

She explained: "I started rehearsing in December. We shot in black and white, with the video in front of us. Mercedes and Kurt do a makeover for Sue and it leads to this video."
