The former 'EastEnders' actor agreed to live on £39-a-week Jobseeker's Allowance for new TV show 'Famous, Rich and Jobless' and admits he found seeking work in Hartlepool, North East England, virtually impossible.
He said: "If a 62-year-old male decides to move to Hartlepool to find a job, he's probably better off having his bumps felt.
"Why on earth would you go there, other than to meet a load of lovely locals? The town's blighted by unemployment and has been for years - there's simply no work at all.
There was clearly no way I was going to get a job.

Instead of looking for work, Larry decided to change the focus of his part of the programme to find out about other people's experiences in the area.
He explained to Inside Soap magazine: "I turned it into a bit of a quest to find out what being long-term unemployed is like in that area.
"After this experience, I don't think the government use national insurance money efficiently. The problem of unemployment needs serious attention."
'Famous, Rich and Jobless' also sees Noel Gallagher's ex-wife Meg Matthews, gardener Diarmuid Garvin and the Duchess of Cornwall's niece Emma Parker Bowles looking for work.
