'Strictly Come Dancing' received 600 complaints after Len Goodman called fellow judge Craig Reveal Horwood a "silly little sod" during Saturday's show (12.11.11).

The panellists clashed following McFly drummer Harry's Judd's Argentine tango alongside professional partner Aliona Vilani, as Len claimed the dance lacked "intensity".

There was no passion - you silly little sod.

When Craig disagreed with him, Len replied: "There was no passion - you silly little sod."

Host Sir Bruce Forsyth then jokingly intervened, by saying: "Go and wash your mouth out."

Len then said: "I apologise to all and sundry", before continuing to talk to Craig, adding: "Passion - it was passionless."

However, viewers were not impressed with the choice of language, with fan describing Len's actions on the pre-watershed show as "appalling" and "completely unacceptable".

According to sources, the 67-year-old judge blamed his comments on jet lag after flying between the UK and the US to work on the BBC One programme and its Stateside counterpart 'Dancing with the Stars'.

The BBC said in a statement: "'Strictly Come Dancing' is a live show and this was an unscripted, off the cuff remark for which Len apologised on air immediately afterwards."
