Louis Walsh says mentoring his 'X Factor' acts is helping him cope with Stephen Gately's death.
The 57-year-old star - who missed last Sunday's live show (11.10.09) after hearing Stephen, who he managed as part of Boyzone, had passed away - has been in constant contact with groups Miss Frank and twins John and Edward in an effort to focus on something other than his grief.
Louis, who will attend Stephen's Dublin funeral on Saturday (17.10.09) and will not appear on the TV talent show this weekend, said: "I love 'The X Factor' - it's the best job in the world. I'm so glad I've got it right now as Stephen's death still hasn't sunk in and it's helping me cope.

"Every day I talk to Miss Frank and the twins. It really lifts me. I might be over in Ireland but they need me and I am there for them. They have got my number and they can call me - and they do.
"I like talking to them, it's an escape. I'm way ahead right now. I have got songs sorted for weeks in advance."
Although Louis will not be in the studio over the weekend, he has vowed to watch the show and vote for his acts over the phone.
Louis added he is thrilled the public voted to keep John and Edward in the contest, adding the boys - who have been critcised for their lack of singing ability and smug mannerisms - have been unfairly treated.
He insisted: "People give them a hard time but they are such sweet kids, so innocent and naive. They are more naive than Boyzone ever were. They are just kids and it's great to see them enjoying themselves. I said people will like them and you know what? I think they do."
