Nigella Lawson has sparked fury from animal rights campaigners after admitting she would happily skin a bear and wear it as a trophy.
The 48-year-old presenter stunned viewers on BBC's 'The One Show' last night (10.12.08) when she made the shocking revelation.
I feel going into a shop and buying a fur coat would be an act of weakness
She said: "I feel going into a shop and buying a fur coat would be an act of weakness. But if I could go out into the woods and kill a bear myself, I would then wear it proudly as a trophy."
When host Adrian Chiles asked her to clarify her comments and ask her if she would kill an animal and wear its fur, she said: "I might if I lived in Alaska!"
Nigella's comments have caused outrage from campaigners, who insist she is wrongly encouraging people to wear fur.
A spokesman for Respect for Animals said: "If she could see the way in which bears and other wild animals are killed in the wild she wouldn't have been so flippant and glib. In my view, Nigella has blood on her hands."
A representative for PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) added: "Every year millions of animals are electrocuted and skinned alive, suffering terribly for the production of fur."

Believe me Nigella, fur looks a lot better on an animal than it does a human.
Regarding your comments about moving to Alaska, hmmm not a bad idea.
