'OK! TV' has been axed.

Channel 5 has decided to end the magazine teatime show - which is currently presented by Jenny Frost and Jeff Brazier - at the end of the year after just nine months on air, as part of the broadcaster's move to switch its news contract from Sky News back to ITN.

Northern & Shell have also confirmed that OK! TV will not continue and therefore this part of the contract will end with the last show to be broadcast on 16 December 2011.

John Ryley, head of Sky News, said in an email to staff that ITN would take over the news contract in "mid to late February".

He added: "Northern & Shell have also confirmed that OK! TV will not continue and therefore this part of the contract will end with the last show to be broadcast on 16 December 2011."

The programme, which was launched in February as a replacement for the 'Live from Studio 5', aimed to deliver a ratings boost to the broadcaster's early evening schedule.

However, 'OK! TV' has been plagued by problems from the beginning, with original presenter Denise Van Outen quitting just days before the series launched, and being replaced by 'Apprentice' runner-up Kate Walsh, who hosted the show alongside Matt Johnson until this summer.

The last episode of 'OK! TV' will air on December 16.
