Former footballer Paul Gascoigne wants to appear on 'Strictly Come Dancing' after winning his battle against alcohol addiction.

The 44-year-old former footballer would love to compete in the celebrity dance contest and says he is fitter than ever after winning his battle against alcohol addiction.

He said: "I'd love to do it. I'm up for any challenge now - and I think I would win hands down.

"I'm skilful at anything. I would take it full-on just like my football. It would be a piece of p**s."

Paul admits he is not a natural on the dancefloor but is willing to give it a go and says people's doubts about his abilities would only spur him on to do better.

He told the Daily Star newspaper: "I could dance when I was drunk. But I wasn't one of those who went to nightclubs and wanted to dance.

"However, if people say I can't do something, I try to prove them wrong."

The former sportsman is enjoying watching this year's contest and is backing his friend Robbie Savage to scoop the crown.

He said: "He's doing really well. He's an ex-footballer and good on him."
