Paula Abdul wants her own chat show.

The former 'American Idol' judge is keen to "try something different" after devoting the past seven years to the TV singing contest.

The 47-year-old star said: "I definitely want to do a talk show because it would be different. It would be a lot of fun variety with a ton of unexpected stuff and tributes to everyday people getting their big chance."

Paula also denied she left 'American Idol' because of a pay dispute, claiming her decision to quit was based on a strong personal "belief".

When it comes to the future however, Paula - a successful pop singer and choreographer - is confident she will be a success no matter what path she chooses.

She said: "I'm a hard-working artist. I've lasted in this business for 23 years. And you can't do that unless you are good at what you do.

"I believe in myself and you have to have your own self respect. There's not one thing I've done that I've really set my mind to that I've failed at."
