Phillip Schofield's Kerry attack

Phillip Schofield was nearly attacked by Kerry Katona's husband Mark Croft following the former Atomic Kitten star's disastrous appearance on 'This Morning'.

The silver-haired presenter - who co-hosts the ITV morning show with Fern Britton - was reportedly "shocked" when Mark accused him of "stitching Kerry up" after he implied drugs were to blame for her slurred speech and dazed appearance on the show.

A show insider told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "Mark was jabbing his finger in Phillip's face and giving him what for. He was so angry that he was frothing at the mouth. It was an extraordinary scene and everyone was standing there with their mouths open.

"He kept saying over and over again that Phillip stitched Kerry up and his language was more than a little colourful to say the least. Phillip refused to back down, but seemed shocked to be spoken to in that way. Fern was standing there in a state of astonishment. In the end production staff had to step in to calm things down."

However, since the show, Phillip has blasted Mark, saying he should not have let Kerry go on live TV, when he knew she had taken her bipolar disorder medication at 11.30pm the night before, leaving her sleepy and disorientated.

He said: "If you are as concerned about your wife as he obviously is and you notice that particular morning her medication or whatever is having an effect on her speech, surely you shouldn't bring her in to a TV studio."
