'Strictly Come Dancing' contestant Ricky Whittle admits he wants to win the show.
The 'Hollyoaks' actor - who takes part in the semi finals of the BBC ballroom dancing show on Saturday (12.12.09) - said he would be "lying" if he claimed he didn't want to come first and insisted his show rivals all shared his sentiment, even if they won't admit it in public.
He said: "Off camera, everyone's always saying they want to win.
You are going to have your hands all over each other's bodies and you have to be comfortable with that.
"But as soon as they cameras come on they're like: 'Oh, it's all about the journey, I'm just taking it a week at a time, I'm just enjoying it.' That's rubbish, everyone wants to win, you don't join a competition to come fourth."
Ricky, who will go head to head against Ali Bastian and Chris Hollins in Saturday's show, also denied he was in a relationship with is dance partner Natalie Lowe - despite rumours circulating since his recent split with long term girlfriend, fellow 'Hollyoaks' star Carley Stenson - but admitted they are close.
He said: "You have to be close to your teacher otherwise it is not going to work. It is all acting and you have to show chemistry and passion for each other. So in the rumba - the dance of love - you have to show that you're possibly in love with that person. You're selling a story, and you only have 90 seconds to sell it.
"You are going to have your hands all over each other's bodies and you have to be comfortable with that."
