Leading politicians want Simon Cowell to move into politics.
The 'X Factor' judge - who has been invited to dine with Prime Minister Gordon Brown and has already met with leader of the opposing Conservative party, David Cameron - is being lined up to devise a way of attracting younger voters and making politics more accessible, according to his biographer.
But a peerage may be a different matter. After all, Alan Sugar and Andrew Lloyd-Webber are both lords so why not?
Charles Newkey-Burden, who wrote 'Simon Cowell: The Unauthorised Biography' said: "Simon is a rare combination. He's incredibly rich and comes from a posh background but has the common touch.
"He can push so many buttons and this makes him a real hot prospect for politicians. They would run over each other to get to his side.
"The public is so cheesed off with his politics and an endorsement from him could just swing it for one of the parties."
Sources close to the music mogul don't think he would be interested in taking up either offer - but could change his mind if he is promised a peerage.
An insider told the Daily Star newspaper: "Simon's happy making TV shows at present and I can't see him interested in becoming an MP.

Meanwhile, a poll of the All-time Greatest Leaders included Simon.
The talent show star came eighth in the survey of over 100 youngsters, which saw Martin Luther King top the poll, followed by US president Barack Obama and Nelson Mandela in second and third place respectively.
Moses and Microsoft founder Bill Gates came equal fifth, followed by a tie between Simon, Mother Theresa, Henry VIII and Chelsea football star John Terry.
