The US 'X Factor' host - who has dated Hollywood hotties Hayden Panettiere and Pamela Anderson in the past - reportedly tries his chat-up lines on his gorgeous co-star whenever he sees her.

However, the 'Don't Hold Your Breath' hitmaker - who is in a long-term relationship with Formula One ace Lewis Hamilton - just "laughs off" the Welsh TV presenter's affections.

An insider explained: "It seems Steve has a bit of a crush on Nicole and there is some unmistakable on-screen chemistry there. He flirts with her whenever he can - and she just laughs it off."

While the US 'X Factor' crew initially thought Steve would have the hots for former judge Cheryl Cole - who Nicole replaced when the Geordie beauty was sensationally axed after just four audition rounds - the hunky star would "never go there" because of his past relationship with her Girls Aloud bandmate Sarah Harding.

The source added to the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Originally people thought Steve had his eye on Cheryl Cole but he once dated her Girls Aloud bandmate Sarah Harding, so neither of them would even go there.

"Steve has plenty of eye candy on-set but Nicole is definitely the object of some of his finest lines."
