Susan Boyle has dismissed reports she is on the verge of a nervous breakdown.

The 'Wild Horses' singer - who spent a stint in a rehab clinic after coming second on UK TV talent show 'Britain's Got Talent' - sparked fears for her health after she was seen weeping in America while greeting fans.

Her spokesperson has, however, insisted she was just overwhelmed after being given the gift of a quilt, which had been designed and made by more than 100 of her fans from 28 countries.

The reports are completely untrue. Susan was overjoyed and extremely touched by a gift she had just received and the reception from her fans.

Her representative said: "The reports are completely untrue. Susan was overjoyed and extremely touched by a gift she had just received and the reception from her fans."

The 48-year-old singer - who suffers learning difficulties - has been on a gruelling promotional schedule to plug her debut LP 'I Dreamed A Dream' but with first week sales expected to hit one million this weekend, she has been given time off by her record company.

A source said: "The album is flying off the shelves so there's no point in making her do more promotional work."

Meanwhile, Kasabian frontman Tom Meighan has blasted Susan's record company and 'Britain's Got Talent' chiefs for "torturing" her.

He said: "Look at Susan Boyle. It is appalling what they have done to her. She doesn't know, does she, bless her. Poor thing. They are making her into this massive star and it is ridiculous. It will torture her for the rest of her life. She is not ready for it and she is not made for it. She is being manipulated. It's horrible."
