The Cheeky Girls are to appear on 'Britain's Got Talent' - as ballroom dancers.

Romanian twins Monica and Gabriela Irimia - who rose to fame when they auditioned for 'Popstars: The Rivals' in 2002, despite their tuneless voices - are being lined up as star performers for the upcoming talent show series, which will appear on ITV1 in April.

The audition will definitely be a massive talking point afterwards and that's something judge Simon Cowell will relish.

A show source said: "You can imagine the groans when the girls are wheeled on stage. Everyone will be expecting them to sing another one of their dreadful songs. But instead, they will be joined by two men for a routine that will have the panel gobsmacked. No one will be expecting it - and the biggest surprise is that they're actually brilliant dancers.

After appearing on 'Popstars: The Rivals' seven years ago, they released their single 'Cheeky Song (Touch My Bum)', which charted at number 2 in the UK and sold over 1.2 million copies.

The 26-year-old sisters recently appeared on the Romanian version of 'Strictly Come Dancing' - which Monica won.

TV executives are thrilled about the girls' dance routines and have earmarked them as a "special" act.

A source added to the Daily Mirror newspaper: "They are very accomplished dancers and they know their act will go down a storm in the UK.

"As soon as they danced a foxtrot, the producers' jaws dropped. They were expecting another bout of tedious singing but instead they got something rather special."
