'Strictly Come Dancing' finalists are set to go head-to-head with contestants from US TV talent show 'Dancing With The Stars'.

The best contenders from the UK programme - including the most recent series' finalists Rachel Stevens and Tom Chambers - could be squaring up to American dancers including Priscilla Presley and Marie Osmond.

A show spokesman said: Planning for 'Strictly Come Dancing' series seven will start next year and, as always, we will look at lots of ways to ensure the show is the best it can possibly be

A source said: "We want to include winners and finalists from both sides of the Atlantic. It could be the biggest international reality show of all time."

Meanwhile, BBC bosses have reportedly vowed to fire 'Strictly Come Dancing' judges Arlene Phililps, Len Goodman, Craig Revel Horwood and Bruno Tonioli in light of the recent voting scandal - leaving the decision solely with viewers.

In the week before the final, the judges gave contestants Rachel Stevens and Lisa Snowdon two very high scores - meaning Tom Chambers' lower score would automatically see him in a dance-off, regardless of how many public votes he received.

The decision caused outrage from the public, who claimed the vote had been rigged to ensure 'Holby City' star Tom would appear in the final.

A show spokesman said: "Planning for 'Strictly Come Dancing' series seven will start next year and, as always, we will look at lots of ways to ensure the show is the best it can possibly be."

The new series may also include a politician from each English political party, with Business Secretary Lord Mandelson and Liberal Democrat Shadow Chancellor Vince Cable apparently being considered.
