'X Factor' Suicide Threat

An 'X Factor' reject threatened suicide after failing to make it to the second round of the show.

The hysterical woman - who was in her 50s and auditioning for the ITV talent show in London - began screaming and crying when told she was not good enough to proceed by show judges Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue.

Witness Tracey Ward said: "She ran off, shouting she was going to commit suicide.

"The producers ran after her. An hour-and-a-half later they were still making sure she was OK."

Although the show had a doctor on hand at the auditions - a move made after 'Britain's Got Talent' contestant Susan Boyle suffered an 'emotional breakdown' following her stint on the show - it has been claimed the woman should never have been allowed to try out.

Tracey added to Britain's The Sun newspaper: "My eye was drawn to this lady. She was acting strangely - very over the top. You have to ask whether she should even have been at the audition in the first place.

"As a stranger I could quite clearly see she was vulnerable - and yet she must have passed three auditions to get through to this stage.

"At each of those auditions she must have been told she was good enough to go through to the next stage. It creates a false impression she was good when actually they just thought she was funny."

The medic is now said to be happy with the woman's progress, after she spent time with the doctor the day after auditions to ensure she did not need further help.

An 'X Factor' spokesman said: "The welfare of contestants is of paramount importance."
